Asia is the most populous continent on the planet. It’s also home to Japan, which has one of the largest Radio Amateur populations in the world. So there are a lot of potential contacts to be made. The FT8 Digital Mode Club (FT8DMC) issues the Asia Stations Award (ASSA) for working at least 100 different stations using the FT8 mode.
FT8DMC issues additional awards for making more contacts in 100 station increments. The current top level award requires QSOs with 1,000 unique stations.
Each version of the certificates sports a colorful photo of Asian individuals from different parts of the continent. The focus is the individuals instead of landscapes and cities.
To apply for the Asia Stations Award, and all other FT8DMC awards, you must install the UltimateAAC application on a Windows machine. That application scans your WSJT-X ADIF log file and will inform you when you’ve qualified for the award at various levels. ERC issues the award in digital form only (JPG or PDF) with no printing or shipping costs. In fact, the award is completely free, like all of their other awards.
