Germany has a rich Amateur Radio history and plays host to one of the largest Amateur Radio conventions every year, Ham Radio in Friedrichshafen. The FT8 Digital Mode Club (FT8DMC) issues the German Stations Award (GSA) for making digital contacts with at least 10 different Amateur Radio stations in Germany.
With thousands of licensed Hams in the country you need not stop at 10 stations with the GSA program. You can receive additional certificates by working more stations. In fact there appear to be 13 different levels available with the topmost level requiring contacts with 1,000 unique stations.
The certificates feature a portion of the German flag along with a photo of some famous site in the country. For example, the 25 station certificate shows the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin. The 50 station certificate shows Neuschwanstein Castle, said to have inspired Disney’s Cinderella Castle.
To apply for the German Stations Award, and all other FT8DMC awards, you must install the UltimateAAC application on a Windows machine. That application scans your WSJT-X ADIF log file and will inform you when you’ve qualified for the award at various levels. FT8DMC issues the award in digital form only (JPG or PDF) with no printing or shipping costs. In fact, the award is completely free, like all of their other awards.
